The Neville Goddard Lectures
Lecture Summary
In this lecture, Neville Goddard teaches that belief and being are inseparable. To truly believe something is to be it — to occupy that state in consciousness. Most people believe with their intellect while their feeling contradicts their belief, and so nothing changes. True belief is felt belief. When you genuinely feel yourself to be the person you wish to be, you have crossed the threshold from wishing to being, and manifestation is inevitable.
"Be what you wish, be what you believe." These two imperatives are one and the same, for to believe is to be.
The intellect can affirm a thousand truths without changing anything. It is only when belief descends from the head to the heart — when it becomes a felt reality — that it has creative power.
Ask yourself: do I merely wish to be this, or do I actually feel myself to be this? The answer will tell you everything about why your desires have or have not manifested.
To be what you wish, you must first feel what you wish. Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Let it permeate your consciousness. Let it become your natural state.
When you have truly assumed the state, you will find that you no longer wish for it — you will feel grateful for it, as though it were already accomplished. That gratitude is the sign that you have crossed the threshold.
