The Neville Goddard Lectures
Lecture Summary
In this lecture, Neville Goddard teaches the practical art of meditation as the gateway to conscious creation. Meditation, for Neville, is not passive emptying of the mind but active, controlled contemplation of the desired state. By entering a relaxed, drowsy state and vividly imagining the wish fulfilled, we impress the subconscious mind with our desired reality. This state — akin to sleep but still consciously directed — is the most fertile ground for planting the seeds of our desires.
Meditation is the art of controlled contemplation. It is not the emptying of the mind, but the deliberate focusing of attention upon a desired state.
The best state for meditation is one akin to sleep — relaxed, drowsy, yet still consciously in control of your imagination.
In this state, the conscious mind relaxes its grip, and the subconscious becomes receptive to the impressions you choose to plant.
Imagine vividly. Use all your senses. Feel the reality of your desired state as though it were already accomplished.
The moments before sleep are the most powerful time for this practice. As you drift toward sleep, hold the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Let it be the last conscious impression before you surrender to sleep.
Do not force. Do not strain. The law of reverse effort teaches that effort defeats itself. Surrender to the feeling, and let the creative power within you do the work.
